DNT Optics HS225R Hydra-LRF Thermal Scope
The DNT Optics HS225R Hydra-LRF Thermal Scope combines multiple functions into one compact thermal optic. Designed as a standalone thermal scope, clip-on, handheld monocular and laser rangefinder, the HS225R also incorporates the DNT Ballistic Engine for an integrated thermal and ballistic solution.
A standard QDM150 quick-detach mount makes it easy to transition between handheld thermal scanning and rifle-mounted use. Compact and versatile, the HS225R provides an accessible way to experience advanced thermal imaging technology without sacrificing essential features.
256×192 Thermal Sensor with 12μm Pixel Size
At the heart of the HS225R is an uncooled infrared thermal sensor with a 256×192 resolution, 12×12μm pixel size and a NETD of ≤25mK @ 25°C.
The 50 FPS sensor provides smooth thermal imagery, while DNT’s Image Super Resolution (ISR) technology enhances the image to a 384-equivalent resolution. This helps improve image clarity and preserve fine thermal details.
25mm Objective Lens and 3-12x Magnification
The 25mm objective lens works with a 3× base magnification to provide a practical balance between field of view and image detail.
Digital magnification can be adjusted from 3× to 12×, allowing the HS225R to adapt to different viewing requirements.
The specified field of view is 12.3 yd × 9.2 yd at 100 yards, providing a useful thermal viewing area.
Integrated Laser Rangefinder
The HS225R features a high-precision laser rangefinder for measuring distances. The supplied specifications list an operating distance of 5-1,200 yards, while the product description specifies a range of 5-1,300 yards.
The measured distance can be used together with the integrated DNT Ballistic Engine to provide calculated drop compensation based on the selected ballistic profile.
DNT Ballistic Engine
The integrated DNT Ballistic Engine adds ballistic calculation functionality directly to the HS225R.
Ballistic profiles can be adjusted on the device or fine-tuned through the DNT App, providing flexibility when configuring the system for different requirements.
The combination of thermal imaging, laser ranging and ballistic calculation brings several functions together within a single compact platform.
1024×768 Micro-OLED Display
Thermal images are presented through a high-resolution 1024×768 Micro-OLED display with a 50Hz refresh rate.
Combined with the 50 FPS thermal sensor, the display provides smooth image presentation and detailed thermal viewing.
Multi-Function Thermal Platform
The HS225R is designed to perform multiple roles:
- Standalone Thermal Scope
- Thermal Clip-On
- Handheld Thermal Monocular
- Laser Rangefinder
- DNT Ballistic Engine
The included QDM150 quick-detach mount supports convenient transitions between handheld and mounted configurations.
18650 Battery System
The HS225R is powered by two 18650 flat-top batteries and provides approximately 5.5 hours of operating time.
For extended operation or convenient power support, the system also features 5V Type-C USB external power.
Rugged IP67 Construction
Built for outdoor use, the HS225R features an IP67 ingress protection rating and a rugged, shock-resistant housing.
The optic is rated for recoil up to .50 BMG and is designed to operate in temperatures from −20°C to 50°C / −4°F to 122°F.
This makes the HS225R suitable for demanding outdoor environments where resistance to dust, water and harsh weather is important.
Built-In 32GB Memory and DNT App Connectivity
The HS225R includes 32GB of built-in memory for onboard storage and supports Wi-Fi connectivity through the DNT App.
The app provides additional control for functions such as ballistic profile configuration and system adjustment.
