The Nielsen Sonic 40 Compact is a short over-barrel silencer developed for smaller rifle calibres and cartridges with moderate powder capacity.
This version has Nielsen Sonic’s Max 7 bore specification and a 1/2×28 UNEF direct-thread mounting system. The Max 7 category is intended for compatible 6 mm, 6.5 mm, .270 and selected 7 mm-class rifles, subject to cartridge and pressure approval.
Its compact telescopic construction extends approximately 75 mm over the barrel and adds only about 117 mm to the firearm’s overall length. A steel core improves durability and heat resistance, while the 40 mm outside diameter provides useful internal volume without creating an excessively bulky profile.

Possible applications:

Compatibility notice:
The Max 7 designation refers to Nielsen Sonic’s maximum projectile-size category. It does not confirm compatibility based only on the cartridge name. The cartridge’s bullet diameter, pressure and powder capacity must also be suitable for the Sonic 40 Compact.
The general Sonic 40 Compact range includes larger bore options suitable for .300 AAC Blackout and other .30-calibre cartridges. This specific Max 7 version is not suitable for .30-calibre projectiles.
Confirm the rifle’s 1/2×28 UNEF muzzle thread, barrel diameter, available rearward clearance, shoulder dimensions and bore alignment before use.
Maintenance:
- Remove the silencer after use and allow it to dry completely.
- Avoid allowing the barrel or silencer to become excessively hot.
- Clean with suitable oil and a soft cloth when necessary.
- Avoid alkaline cleaners, ultrasonic cleaners and abrasive products.
- Regularly separate the modules and apply suitable thread grease if continued disassembly is required.
