The Nielsen Sonic 40 Compact is a short over-barrel silencer developed specifically for .300 AAC Blackout and other compatible small- and medium-calibre cartridges.

This version has Nielsen Sonic’s Max 8 bore specification and a 1/2×28 UNEF direct-thread mounting system. The Max 8 configuration accommodates compatible projectiles up to the manufacturer’s .30-calibre class, including suitable .300 AAC Blackout and .308 Winchester applications.

Its telescopic construction extends approximately 75 mm over the barrel and adds only about 117 mm to the firearm’s overall length. A durable steel core improves heat resistance, while the 40 mm outside diameter provides useful internal volume in a compact package.

Possible applications:

Subject to exact cartridge, pressure and thread approval, the Max 8 version may be suitable for calibres such as .243 Winchester, 6.5 Creedmoor, .270 Winchester, 7mm-08 Remington, .300 AAC Blackout and .308 Winchester.

Compatibility notice:

The Max 8 designation refers to Nielsen Sonic’s projectile-size category. It does not automatically confirm compatibility with every cartridge described as 8 mm or .30 calibre. Cartridge pressure, powder capacity and intended firing schedule must also be suitable for the Sonic 40 Compact.

Many .300 AAC Blackout and .308 Winchester rifles use a 5/8×24 muzzle thread. This particular silencer has a 1/2×28 UNEF thread and must only be installed on a barrel with that exact thread.

Confirm the rifle’s calibre, 1/2×28 UNEF muzzle thread, barrel diameter, available rearward clearance, shoulder dimensions and bore alignment before use.

Maintenance:

• Remove the silencer after use and allow it to dry completely.
• Avoid allowing the barrel or silencer to become excessively hot.
• Clean with suitable oil and a soft cloth when necessary.
• Avoid alkaline cleaners, ultrasonic cleaners and abrasive products.
• Regularly separate the modules and apply suitable thread grease if continued disassembly is required.
