Cometa GAS4RAM5 23J Gas Ram – Fenix 400 and Fusion GP
The Cometa GAS4RAM5 Gas Ram is a factory-style replacement gas spring for compatible Cometa Fenix 400 and Fusion air rifles fitted with the GPS Gas Power System.
It replaces the conventional coiled mainspring in compatible models. The sealed gas ram compresses when the rifle is cocked and releases its stored energy when fired, driving the rifle’s compression piston forward.
This is the gas ram only. It is not the complete compression piston, piston seal, or installation kit.
Key Features
- Factory-original-style Cometa gas ram
- Designed for compatible GPS-equipped air rifles

- Rated at approximately 500 N
- Smooth and consistent firing cycle
- Reduced spring vibration compared with a conventional steel mainspring
- Suitable as a replacement for a worn or damaged gas ram

Compatibility
GAS4RAM5 is listed for compatible GP or GPS-system variants of the following Cometa air rifles:
- Cometa Fenix 400
- Cometa Fenix 400 GP
- Cometa Fusion GP
- Cometa Fusion Star GP
- Selected Fenix 400 and Fusion GP-system variants
Compatibility with Compact, Galaxy, Premier, Star, standard spring-powered, older-production, and country-specific versions must be confirmed before ordering.
Do not assume that every Cometa Fenix 400 or Fusion uses the same gas ram. Some models use a conventional steel mainspring or a different gas-ram rating.
Important Power Information
The 23-joule specification is the gas ram’s nominal power class. Actual muzzle energy depends on several factors, including:
- Air-rifle model
- Calibre
- Pellet weight
- Piston and seal condition
- Compression-tube condition
- Barrel condition
- Local power restrictions
Installing this component does not guarantee that a rifle will produce exactly 23 joules. The rifle should be chronograph-tested after installation to confirm its actual muzzle energy and legal compliance.
Gas Ram Advantages
Compared with a traditional coiled mainspring, a correctly installed gas ram can provide:
- Reduced spring vibration
- A quicker and more consistent firing cycle
- Less mechanical spring noise
- No mainspring twisting or spring fatigue
- Consistent operation when left cocked for short periods
The gas ram does not remove recoil. Spring-piston and gas-ram air rifles still produce a sharp, two-direction recoil impulse and should be used with a suitable airgun-rated scope and mounts.
Installation Information
A compressed gas ram stores substantial mechanical energy. Removal and installation require the correct tools, including a suitable spring compressor.
Installation should be completed by a qualified airgun technician. Incorrect removal or installation can cause serious injury or damage to the rifle.
Do not:
- Puncture, heat, cut, grind, or open the gas ram
- Clamp or damage the polished rod
- Attempt to recharge the sealed unit
- Install it in an unconfirmed air-rifle model
- Exceed local airgun power limits
The rifle must be unloaded before any maintenance begins.
