The Balistix UltraHunt .308 165gr Bullet is designed for bush hunting and shorter hunting distances. Its wider opening, also known as the meplat, helps promote greater bullet expansion and mushrooming on impact.

Unlike the HunTac range, the UltraHunt features a larger meplat. As a result, it has a lower ballistic coefficient. Therefore, this design focuses on expansion at shorter distances rather than maximum ballistic efficiency.

Designed for Bush Hunting

The Balistix UltraHunt range focuses on hunting at shorter distances. Its wider opening helps promote a larger mushroom when the bullet impacts the target.

In addition, the 165-grain version offers another weight option within the UltraHunt range. Its design prioritises expansion rather than the higher ballistic coefficient found in the HunTac range.

Understanding the Meplat

The meplat refers to the small, blunt tip at the front of a bullet. The UltraHunt features a larger meplat than the HunTac bullets.

As a result, this design promotes a wider opening and supports the bullet’s expansion-focused purpose. However, the larger meplat also lowers the ballistic coefficient compared with the HunTac range.

Brand

Balistix

The Balistix team is a group of South African hunting and competitive sport shooting enthusiasts. All three friends, ranging from a successful manufacturing engineering entrepreneur, an investment and corporate banker, and a mechanical engineer had a dream to locally produce a monolithic bullet that not only conforms, but more importantly, exceeds the demands of the modern day shooter and hunter. The objective was to provide a local alternative to imported established brand names. The worldwide drive to ban lead-core bullets, as well as the sheer cost of imported products against the shifting exchange rate prompted the establishment of Balistix Bullets. In an effort to curb these problems, the three founding members decided to enter the market with the mission of supplying a high quality premium monolithic bullet that will consistently perform beyond expectation. This will be achieved through applying a modern approach to bullet design against the status quo.Our motto, “Where Accuracy Counts”, is a promise we intend to keep.
