Versatile Australian Stock Style Endurance Saddle

The Sahara Endurance Saddle is a medium Australian Stock saddle offering an exceptional combination of security, comfort, and horse fit. Similar in fit to the popular Normandy, it’s ideal for narrow to medium-width horses, with features carefully designed for both endurance riders and those participating in mounted games and tent pegging.

Short, straight bars with open shoulder clearance
Medium-high swell to accommodate both high and low withers
Dished, secure seat with a 13” wide low cantle for long hours in the saddle
Moveable stirrup straps (25mm forward adjustment) for Polo Crosse and mounted games
Velcro-on skirt system with three different thickness neoprene pads (2x 10mm, 2x 14mm, 2x 18mm) for adjustable, custom fit

Phantom Version

A stripped-down, lightweight version of the Sahara, the Phantom replaces heavier veg-tan leather with light neoprene rubber laminated between two pieces of chrome leather. It retains all the core functionality of a leather saddle, offering a durable yet lighter option for competitive or long-distance riders. Comes standard with 25mm stirrup straps and leather sleeve covers.

Note: The Phantom is still a leather saddle, not synthetic.

Narrow Gullet (5”–5.5”)
For horses with high, narrow withers and slim shoulders. Prevents pinching at the withers and ensures clearance without instability.
Medium Gullet (6”)
The most common size for average-built horses with balanced proportions. Provides even contact and avoids pressure points.

📌 Quick Tips: How to Check Saddle Gullet Fit

You should be able to fit 2–3 fingers between the saddle pommel and the horse’s withers when the rider is seated.
Check that the saddle doesn’t pinch the shoulders when the horse moves.
Look for even sweat patterns under the saddle after a ride.
The saddle should sit level on the horse’s back, not tip forward or back.
